Step 1: Freshen up your course's appearance
Be careful. You might have great content but if your courses don't look good, it may not matter to the learners. Courses that are clean, fresh, and up-to-date allow you to significantly improve learner engagement and build trust.
So, your goal is:
Some things you can start doing today:
- Check that visuals are up-to-date and high in quality. Substitute low quality pieces of clip-art from the 1990's that can make your course seem unprofessional.
- If you haven't added any relevant multimedia elements to your course yet, then now is the perfect time to do so.
- Ensure all graphics match each other in terms of size, color, and overall style.
- Update old statistics or content. Remove content that no longer applies to the actual learning context.
- Make sure to keep your course's colors looking fresh. Select colors that do not clash or distract from t
the context of the course. - Check your fonts. Have you used a web-friendly one? Have you selected no more than 2 fonts? Make sure you use a standard font for headings and use another one for content.
